The Family | Documentary Opening

My Role: Narrative Video Editor

I served as the lead editor for this documentary opening titled "The Family." My primary objective was to demonstrate how raw stock footage can be transformed into a haunting, high-prestige title sequence.

Building a Haunting Atmosphere

To begin, I established a signature tone that evokes the feel of a premium true-crime series. Specifically, I used cinematic color grading in DaVinci Resolve to create a desaturated, gritty visual palette. Consequently, the edit feels cohesive and intentional rather than just a collection of clips. Furthermore, I meticulously synced these visuals to an immersive soundscape to elevate the psychological tension of the opening.

Post-Production Workflow

First, I performed the primary narrative assembly and pacing within Adobe Premiere Pro. Subsequently, I moved the project into DaVinci Resolve for the professional finishing and color stage. Therefore, this hybrid workflow allows for both rapid storytelling adjustments and broadcast-standard visual polish. Finally, I integrated custom title graphics to anchor the brand identity of this fictional series.

A Conceptual Storytelling Showcase

As you can see in the frames below, this project is a conceptual showcase of storytelling built from the ground up. All names, logos, and entities depicted are fictional creations designed to show technical proficiency. As a result, this opening serves as a powerful example of how professional post-production can define a series before the first scene even begins.
